Sgt. Lamoure completed his Gunnery training at #9 B & G located at Mount Jolie Quebec. He was assigned to 419 squadron and was Upper Gunner on Halifax JB793. Which may have been his first operation, it was for sure the first operation for all of the crew as a unit. Sgt. Lamoure's aircraft was attacked by night fighters while on the return from a operation on Wuppertal. The attack had wounded a number of the crew, the pilot Sgt. Winegarden remained at the controls hoping to crash land in order to help save the wounded on board. Three members of the crew did bail out and became POWs. Sgt. Winegarden the Pilot, Sgt. Rickett aircraft's tail gunner and Sgt.Hall RAF the F/E. were also all killed. Lawrence Lamoure was just 19 years old when when he died on that night May 30th in 1943
