Crew of Wellington X3717

Wellington X3717 VR-C set off for a raid on Stuttgart Germany at 2205 hours and was lost some where on it's journey to or from it's destination. Nothing is known about how it met it's fate.
F/S Roberts had been on his first sortie as 2nd. Pilot when the Wellington's starboard engine was hit by flak. The damage caused oil from the engine to spray over the cockpit and gave F/L Wolfe problems seeing properly. The aircraft did land without incident. A Starboard engine would again cause problems on Roberts second 2nd. Pilot sortie, this time the aircraft returned before reaching the target.
Flight Sergeants, Brophy, Valkenier, and McDougall had completed 14 operations with Roberts. McDougall's name was incorrectly spelt through most of the ORB entries. F/S Murray was on his first operation with the Roberts crew. Prior to Murray was Sgt. Austin who had completed 11 operations with the crew from April 2 to April 28th.
During the first two operations other airmen were in the WAG position.
