In October of 1943 the men of the P/O Stronach crew arrived at 419 Squadron from 1664 HCU at Croft. They would remain with the squadron until January 25th 1944. The crew were all hand picked for members of an elite Pathfinder squadrons. As part of 405 squadron they flew ahead to enemy targets and dropped flares to better pinpoint the target.
