A few weeks back on July 15th I was contacted by an aviation archelogy group in Europe. Over the past 25 years they had located many crash sites of aircraft brought down across Europe. They wrote requesting more information on the crash location of 419 Squadron's Halifax JB912 which had various locations listed in different sources. They had found evidence of a crash site near Eggesin which matched Luftwaffe records of a Halifax crash but not shown by RAF records.

JB912 Located

I was able to put them in contact with a family member of one of the crew. The family then contacted the research group.
And today I learned that they have localized the crash site, near Eggesin.
Not only have they completed that task they have also located two eye witnesses to the crash, also the photo above taken by one of the guards, a Hitler Youth member. In addition to these finds they have found the man who has dug up some of the aircrafts pieces.
The research group in keeping with it's past record has informed the family of the airmen who provided the additional details and invited them to visit the site, as they have done with many other families.

Hopefully More Details Will Follow Later
