Crew during April :
Pilot: F/O Robbie E. Chambers
Navigator: F/o Robert P. Mitchell
B/A: F/O G.W."Wulf" Farrow
WAG: F/O D.R. Bown
F/E: P/O J.D. Mac Intosh
M/UG: F/S H.O. Bonell
R/G: F/S A.O. Maki

The crew's original MUG was Sgt. A.D. Farget was replaced by F/S Kranyak on the March 31 st. op. to Hamburg. Then on the other operations F/S Bonell was their MUG.

Operations Begin

The first operation for the crew working together was to Heide. During this sortie they had a slight incident where a 250 pound bomb become hung up in the racks. They eventually managed to drop the bomb over the North Sea in a safe area.
The next operation on March 22nd. the crew was assigned to KB732 known as X-Terminator, 419's veteran Lancaster.
X-Terminator on this op. was hit by flak to the H2S Radar blister. Their next operation on March 24th which was also on VR-X resulted in two more flak holes to X-Terminator's battle scars.

They like all other crews, never mentioned these minor clashes with danger, it was all part of the job to these young men. A fact that is to the credit to all the crews that flew.
After the nine sorties over Germany and one over Wangeroon to the aide of the Canadian Army in Holland, the air war was over.

Now the crew's pilot and Navigator F/O Robert Mitchell had a new challange to face. crossing the Atlantic. Chambers and Mitchell were selected to ferry home another well known 419 Lancaster Ropey. VR-R was easy to regognize with its Flying Tiger style paint job on all four of her engine covers.

For these two men it would involve for the pilot leaning to fly by the rules of commercial avaiation among other non-war related skills. For Mitchell it would require refresher courses in Astro-navigation.

I do not know if any other members of the crew were on Ropey as she landed back in Canada on June 10th. Most of the aircraft of the squadron were filled with other gear and only selected 419 personnel.
