With the war in Europe over, the aircraft of Bomber Command found a new roll.
Returning home the repatriated Prisoners of War. From all over Europe
airstrips were crowded with parked heavy bombers all awaiting the "passengers" to be returned home
to Britiain. It wasn't a comfortable first class trip, there were no extra seats were installed in the bombers.
Finding space where if you could find it, was the rule of the day. For some it was a quick hop across the
English Channel and for others it was longer trips across most of Europe.
